SC rear cover swap from motor lift to hydraulic

I have located a parts tractor with the low pressure hydralics system to swap out the rear cover on my SC which currently has the motor lift.

I had a few questions- Will the PTO shaft also have to be swapped and if so will I have to take off the top (gearshift) cover to do this? Or will it be a straightforward simple rear housing swap?

Thanks is advance

Thanks a lot for the info guys- at least now I know what I am getting into. I might end up just adding an external hydraulic pump to the belt pulley since I don't even know the condition of the pump in the parts tractor and it is sounding like a fairly big job.

Yes you have to pull the trans. cover to get at the snap ring. The PTO needs to be changed because the motorlift PTO has a wormgear to drive the motorlift, and you need the sprocket that drives the hyd. pump. If you have an early SC this will change out the small PTO for the standard size. Good Luck

I've never pulled the cover off my tractor with the motor lift to see what's in there. To run the hydraulic pump, you will have to have the internal chain driven shaft and a sprocket mounted on the PTO shaft to drive it. Does the mechanical lift tractor PTO have this? I think the PTO shaft has a snap ring that holds it in and you will have to remove the gear shift cover to get to it.
