42 Years old. Born in Larchwood, IA. Raised in Sioux Falls, SD. Living in Morris, OK. Finally got back out in the country. (Short bio so you know something about me.)

Bought a 69 Case 430 last weekend.

Working tractor. Owned by same guy for 9 years.
(Ummmm, Isn't this thing 34 years old?)

Run goods. Now come the ?'s.

Has 3 Point, Class 1. I need a Class 2.

1. What's easiest? Cut off's and weld on adaptors" Or new bars?

Coldest blooded thing I have ever owned.

2. I know you guy's don't like ether, what do I use?

3. What loader fit's this tractor.

Thanks.

And if you know somebody with a service manual that wants to get rid of it at less than the goldplated prices they for a new one, email me.

You didn't say if its a deisel or gas- If its a deisel you have to turn the key to the left for about a full minute to energize the glow plug in the intake manifold.

My father had one for about 15 yrs. Finally solved the hard starting by installing a block heater element. The stock method was a heating element in the manifold. It worked OK above 30 degrees, but quickly ran down the battery. We had to start it often by towing or rolling with ether - and replaced more than a couple head gaskets, and the battery every two years or so. If you have this option, be careful. Ours worked by turning the key to the left - was real easy to turn the key to the off position and turn the switch too far - battery would drain in a very few minutes.

I may still have an IT shop manual for it. Give me your e-mail address - I'll contact you if I can find it.

Good luck with your tractor! We used ours really hard in the firewood business. It was a rugged little machine. Often wish I hadn't sold it after Dad died.

Tim

Get a Nimpo starter off of a 580sd or 580c and you will not have any trouble starting it.

Good batteries and proper gauge cables are very important for good started performance. Cables wear out like water pipe. Over time they lose the ability to deliver full amperage.

Andy; 1st and most important, it's not that we don't like either, it's that either will crack something in that engine, or if you're lucky, blow a head gasket. Before you go chopping those Cat.1 balls off, is it possible to put Cat. 1 pins on your implement? I'd have to guess that those implements with Cat.2 pins are too big for your 430 anyways. John
