Help! My Case 2290 is loosing a little oil out of the engine front main case seal I believe. Everything is oily up front anyway. Around the pulley it is clean from the oil washing everything away. What needs to be done to change that oil seal. The pulley is held on with a bolt it appears. Does the radiator need to come off? Does it need to be pulled off or will it slide off? Is there a sleeve on the crankshaft? Does the new seal come with a sleeve? Anything else about this would be appreciated. Thanks. andy

Remove alt.,fan & pulleys, upper rad. hose, precleaner tube & fan shroud. Remove pulley bolt (5/8NF), washer, reinstall bolt less washer to give puller somthing to push against. Attach a "T" type puller using two of the threaded holes closest to center of pulley.(using the outer holes might damage pulley) and remove. They are TIGHT! I use a 5/8, fulley threaded dowel bolt& nut to reinstall pulley. The wear sleeve comes with an instalation tool. You can use a 3/4 drive socket and above mentioned dowel bolt to install seal squarely.

Thanks .... sounds like the radiator doesn't need to come off to have enough room?

Andy; The main question not asked is "Why is the seal leaking"? Are the bearings wore causing the shaft to move around taking out the seal? I believe on the 2290 the retaining bolt comes out and the pulley slides off the crank. I'm sure there is enough stuff in the way that has to come out. If the seal is still original, there shouldn't be a sleeve, but my experience is that the surface will be grooved, requiring a seal & sleeve kit. Quite pricey from CASE. Hope this helps, John
