I am planning on buying two gallons of Case red paint from the dealer to repaint my tractor and a few implements. I have spent many hours getting the sheetmetal perfect and I want the best finish possible. I have heard talk around here of putting a hardener in the paint to boost it's durability. Can someone name a specific hardener that I can ask for at the paint store?
Thanks in advance!
Bud

It may sound stupid, and not to start a big discussion, but I spent the extra money and bought the PPG paint. I had spent hours getting my sheet metal perfect also. Primer surfacer and 400 grit sandpaper. I used the Case paint once and found it to be thick and very slow to dry. I used the PPG and I have a mirror glass finish. I paid 35 a quart which is about 20 more than the Case I understand. But with all that work I did not want to skimp. But that is just me. Good luck with whichever you decide.

Hmmm... I don't mind spending the extra money as long as I get a good gloss that will hold up to exposure. Does anybody know the correct PPG color code for the modern era Case/IH red that is used on the tractors manufactured today?

The paint dealer should be able to find it for you. They have big books with paint codes from just about every manufacturer in the world. If not they can call the factory. I can say I spent the extra money and am a complete novice and I impressed myself. Good luck
