I have a Case 300 that I would like to mount a belly mower on. I have not seen this done on a Case 300. We are currently using a Allis Chalmers C with a belly mower and my brother who operates it wants a belly mower on the Case rather than the more common 3 pt. hitch mower. Has anyone done this, what are the pros and cons and are there any companies that actually supply a kit for installation ? Thanks

There was a belly mount sickle-bar mower made for the 300 and newer tractors. It was belt driven from a pulley that slid into the pto shaft. It was an open type design using the tractor as the supporting member not built in a frame of tube steel like an AC belly mount mower, but still similar in design.I dont remember how the rear was mounted but it attached to the bellhousing of the torque tube on each side and also had a plate that attached on the front attachment points at the front of the tractor.I like a belly mount mower because it is easier to cut around things like apple trees and much easier to watch where and how you are mowing. The only disadvantages I can see are it is harder to install and you can not mow into a corner with a belly mount like you can with a 3pth mower.I am also contemplating modifying an AC belly mount for my Case 311.Hope this helps.

My dad has a 311b, wide front with a 6 foot woods belly mower under it. It's a tight fit working the mower between the front and rear wheels, otherwise no problem.

First I will point out that (I assume) we are talking a sickel mower. Not rotary. This is of interest to me since I have a Case 300 and an Allis 6ft sickle mower that fits Allis B or C. Could be interesting.

I would assume that we are talking about a rotary lawn mower (finish mower). I can't think of many advantages of a belly mount sickle mower over a 3 point. I can think of lots of advantages to a belly mount finish mower.

The problem with the 300 is that it is so low to the ground that there is hardly enough room for the mower. I have a modified TO20 that I have a belly mower under. I could not find a mower to fit under so I had to build my own. The biggest challenge was to drive it, no room for belt drives. I drive mine with a hyd. drive. Pump on the front of the crankshaft, and motor on one blade with belt to the other 2. This involved oil cooler, custom built tanks to fit, and other problems. I have since had the block crack between the sleeves, and installed a 289 V8 in it. Works GREAT!! Mow 7 acres in just under 2 hrs. Takes less gas than the Z120 did and runs much smoother. 200 hp makes mowing kinda fun. Good luck finding a mower that will fit.
