I have been down many dead end roads trying to get a paint code or a formula for the LC gray color. I have seen many tractors restored with what looks like the right color. WHAT IS THE BIG SECRET! Please help because I have three tractors that need painting

I have seen a tractor painted with the Case paint and it was way to light. I also went to my Dietzler dealer and showed him that formula and the fleet truck gray ment nothing to him (need a number.)

I have had painted two tractors with that LC Grey Paint from Case, and both of them turned out great. I showed the tractors to a former Case mechanic that worked on those tractors when new. He said the color was close as you could get. I don't know where you are getting this light color paint from, are you mixing the paint to thin?

If you are looking for the LC Grey paint you can get it at your Case dealer. But to save you the trip, the number is LC Grey B13017.

Hi Casenut,

I always assumed that the Case LC grey paint code was posted in the "Paint Codes" section of this site with all the other colors. You're right... it's not there.

I did a quick search of the archives, and it looks like other folks have had the same problem.

Nobody's got the same solution, though. Here are three YTMAG Archive links that may help you:

Case Paint Number for LC Grey and a recipe for using Ditzler paint

PPG paint formula numbers from Old Abe News Fall 2001 edition

Another set of paint forumula numbers from March 2002

I don't know anything about the accuracy of this information- but I hope it helps you.

I too have had enormous problems trying to get LC grey (for my C, and now my 'new' L)

About 15 years ago I get several quart cans from a Case dealer when on a trip to the US (part number B13017).

I have tried since with dealers here in Australia and they say they cant get it.

Paint dealers say that the PPG and Dulux numbers mean nothing to them.

I finally found a paint manufactuer who matched the colour in a two pack enamal.

I have had similar problem trying to get Flambeau Red for my LA. The paint manufactuer thinks he can match that.

It would be really great if someone could put a formula (for LC grey and flambeau red) that works on this site.

Hi Bob,

I had my Flambeau Red paint mixed at my local N.A.P.A. paint store.

I took them the paint code that I got from the archives on this site: #NAPA 99L 3727

I was quoted a price of $43.99 a quart or $147.00 a gallon.

After I regained consciousness... the paint guy told me that the the "99" in the paint number designation was the "price code".

He told me that I could have the same color made in their "Crossfire" paint series for a reduced cost.

The crossfire paint number is:
Martin Senour #53A 3727

The cost per gallon was $63.79.

I've had no problems with this paint (except that I needed a hardener) - and the tractor's been outside for over a year with no fading. You can see photos of the tractor and the pieces I painted at the link below:

Maybe this info will help you.
