You are most welcome, Jonathan.

If there's one thing I'm good at- it's Ebay.

I picked up a DC hub wrench for $11.00 last night.

I'm also getting a pretty decent collection of Dealer Service Manuals, Operator's Manuals, and Parts Manuals for the "letter" series tractors. Reading that stuff beats I&T hands down...

Thanks for the book list. I have everything you mention, and I ordered "Full Steam Ahead" this afternoon. Let me know if you run across some cheap copies of the C.H. Wendel book.

Glad you got those dealer letters.

On a related note- I've been trying to figure out where the J.I. Case branch house/dealership was in Dallas. I'm still having no luck- but today I found this in the Dallas County Texas Archives:

November 4, 1904: "Permit issued to J. I. Case company for three-story and basement building."

With some luck- maybe I'll find that the building still exists. They turned the old Ford Model T factory into lofts a few years ago- so it's possible that the Case building is still around, too.

Talk to you later, -Schotte

You need to go to Dallas library or historical society, maybe an area college library. Ask for Sanborn insurance maps of the city. These maps were made for insurance companies to locate buildings in cities and outlying areas. Don't remember when they started but they go back pretty far. I would start with 1904 and work forward of course.

Thanks- Let me know what you find.

While you're looking up Texas Case branches & dealerships, please keep your eyes open for this one, too:

Service Garage & Implement Co., Haskell, Texas

That's where the tractor that I grew up on was originally shipped to. How it ever got 300 miles East to us I'll never know...

Can anyone get a "build sheet" for their Case tractor. My dad says his father (my grandad) bough the first L West of the Mississippi on rubber. We don't know where that tractor is anymore, but we still have the '49 D he bought new in Stillwater, OK. Dad says he remembers when they delivered it, etc. We are starting to restore it, and a build sheet would be a nice piece of documentation.

Do any of you guys know of a "master list" of Case dealers from years ago? These old places are disappearing fast as well as the people who knew about them. Don R

Jonathon, It would be pretty hard to find all the dealers but would like to see a list. Do to the nature of the business many dealers were dropped cause the companies didn't want to mess with the small guys anymore, only one dealer in a certain mile radius. For instance we had dealers in Roberts, Baldwin, Ridgland, and Durand, Wisconsin that are all gone and the shops have pretty much disappeared. Would have loved to have gone to the sale that the old guy had in Durand, he was small but had old parts galore and manuals and signs that would have been great for the collector. Heard about it after it was over!

Thanks for the info. We had 7 Case Dealers here in NE WI in the mid 60's. By 1970 there were none. We really liked the dealer in Algoma, WI and I found out recently he is still alive and doing OK. I intend to visit him shortly and get as much information about his dealership and the other 6 as I can. I do know that his father was signed up by the Case block man in 1927. He came from Racine in a Case car.
