My neighbor put a 3 cyl. Detroit in his LA. Pulled like an elephant, but after he put duals on, to harness all that power, he started snapping axles. Another neighbor did the same conversion to an IH WD9. He didn't use duals, so tires didn't last long. He eventually twisted off the input shaft on the tranny.

Detroit also made a kit for the D Case. They made a kit for IH 22-36s, W6s ,M Farmalls, F30s . They also had conversions for Molines And early 99 Olivers. Where is the LA at and did it say what they wanted for it? Later Bill

The Detroit was an aftermarket conversion that was put in both the L and LA. Case never offered a true diesel until the 500. Both the 3-71 and 4-71 were installed.

I know where there is an L A with a detroit in it in N. C. that is for sale. He is a little steep on the price for me though.
