I bought a nice little Case VAC narrow front earlier this summer, while looking for a small wide front tractor w/lift and pto. The VAC has the factory lift and pto. I traded a Farmall B w/ a stuck engine for a Case VAI yesterday. The VAI has a wide front no lift, but hydraulics and pto. A couple of questions. Ist, Does anyone know a good place to get some pto gears for the VAC? That's all it needs to be completely operational. It runs and drives, but the two pto gears are shot. Second, When I looked at the VAI, the man told me that it probably needed a distributor. He told me it would run good for a few seconds, then it would try to run "backwards" I'm pretty sure that the dist. has been removed at some point (the engine was recently rebuilt and I don't think it's been right since then) And I don't think they got it back in properly. Can someone tell me the firing order and the steps to set timing from scratch? I can do it on a chevy or ford, But I know nothing about these little Case engines. I intend on having two small tractors to play with. One for work, and one for show. Many Thanks, Michael

Thanks for the help guys, I've already found a set of gears, as far as the dist. I think mine's fine, I'm 90% sure the timing is way off, Anyone have any suggestions as how to set the timing from scratch? I need to start there in order to find out wether or not I have other problems. Thanks, Michael

Thanks for the help MJ, I think that will do the trick. I've just found a loader that came off a IH farmall 300, I'm hoping to make it work on this VAI. Thanks again, Michael

I have access to a parts VAC but it will probably be spring before I get it home to tear it apart. Don L who posts here regularly should be able to help you. Fireman
