We have an early '70s DB 990. If we try to engage the PTO with the tractor running, The Deisel will bog down and stall. If we engage the PTO prior to starting the tractor, it runs fine except that it only operates in high speed (it is a two speed PTO). Any ideas out there?

Does the engine bog down when you depress the clutch pedal to the floor or when you try to engage the pto lever?

According to the manual I have you should have the Borg & Beck type clutch.I have an 885 that I just replaced the pressure plate in. It has one clutch release bearing that operates the whole assembly. It does have an adjustment to adjust when and how much the pto pressure plate is released. I had to adjust mine after replacing it. If you want i can email you the diagram of your clutch assembly. Just send me you email addy.
