VAC Block Heater?

Do any of you know if Case offered a block heater for a VAC? On the left side to the rear of the engine of my '52 VAC, there is what appears to be a plug sticking up, just waiting for an extension cord to come along and plug into it. I'm very hesitant to put 120 volts of AC to it. I will test it before trying. Was just wondering if this was a standard thing or some kind of after-market item.

Sounds like one of those after market heaters. It's just a small heating coil like the ones you find in a water heater. Only this one won't have a therostat on it. I found one on one of my 400's. Must have been shorted out or something, because it melted to end of my power cord. Maybe you should check yours with an ohm meter first before you plug it in.
