I spied a 44 LA sitting outside with the tires slowly rotting and so I asked the guy if he would sell it. He said he paid $4500 for it a couple of years ago in Texas, but would take $2500 for it now(I live near Kansas City).

I told him I wish I had sold it to him! He said it, "ran real good last time I started it." Course that was over one year ago. I hate to see old tractors rot, especially a Case, but until he gets realistic that's what it will continue doing.

You and I must of found the same guy in TX. This guy had an Allis C, missing mag, carb and generator, stuck with bad tires.....he wanted one whole grand for it. Also has a Case SC, same condition....one grand also, I said "OK buy".

Hey Duane,

Where in Texas did you find the $1,000 SC? I'd like to see if he'll sell my 3 on commission! (grin)

I paid $500 for the first one and $75 each for the other two!

That price is way to high... You can find nice LA's all the time for $500 to $1000. Even fully restored you would be hard pressed to pay $2500. Anybody that thinks differently has not done his homework...

If it's mechanically sound & complete it might be worth a look. Don't take much to add on 500 to 1000 bucks in parts. Just headlight lens's & battery covers are bout 75 ea. Same as a front tire.

How come all the good stuff is in Texas, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Canada or someplace a million miles from New Hampshire!!? That LA may be a little high but if you want it, you want it, and I guess you don't. Just my two cents.

There are two of 'em within 5 minutes of my house, and we're tearing down our D to restore it, which is more valuable to me because it has been in the family since new. I'll stop back by and get some pics of it. Maybe you guys can talk me into buying it. I think the big beast is neat, just over-priced, but what I hear you saying is it may not be.
