If you haven't got yours yet, make sure you get one. It is going to be a good year for Case tractors.
For those who have seen the beautiful VAC w/Case manure spreader, please answer me this: How come the coil seems to be mounted up on the rear of the valve cover, and how come the spark plugs seem to be covered by a piece of sheet metal?

I put one in the classifieds here about a year ago. I think I could have sold a hundred. It is a very simple piece. Someone should make a repro. I would dearly love to have it back, went for $20.00 or 25 can't remember. Maybe it's the one on the calander?

"Vintage Farm Power 2003". I don't see any part # on it.

Apparently there was a cover for the spark plugs available. I saw one up for auction, pretty sure on E-bay. Guy who is selling says this is the only one he has ever seen other than pictures.

One of my VAC tractors came with the "sparkplug cover" and the coil was mounted on a bracket that bolts to the rear valve cover stud. There was a notched piece of wood that laid on the sparkplugs, under the cover. Each notch fit over a sparkplug. The piece ran the length of the head and was about 1" x 5/8", as I remember. The only purpose for this wooden item that I could come up with was to insulate the bare connection at the plug/wire juncture if some weeds or grass were to be blown into the open end of the cover by the fan.

Hey Les,

I tried to get the NAPA "Classic Farm Tractors" calender everyone was talking about last year- and I never could find one.

Went to 5 different stores, and nobody had heard of it. They kept trying to give me NASCAR ones. Maybe I will have better luck this year- thanks for the reminder.

I just bought the 2003 "Tractors" calendar by Dorset Press- and it has 3 Cases in it this year:

February is a 1909 Case steam engine (size not noted)

August is a 1947 Case VAO Orchard model

October is a 1941 Case VC (which is also the cover tractor this year.)

Mike, it's not called the "classic farm tractor" calendar. I'm at home now so I can't tell you what its name is but I'll post it tomorrow when I get to work if you'd like.

Thanks, Les-

Yes, I would like the name of the calendar (or a NAPA part # for it!)

Here's the link to the spark plug cover that DBeck was referring to:

I'll email you when I get to work tomorrow (that's where the calendar is). The picture is just beautiful. There's other Case tractors pictured in other months as well.

Nope, I don't think so. I got mine from Danny O'Brien in Plymouth but I bet Rich has them, too.
