Ok! I been following you guys for a year now and have heard a lot of discussion re Flambeau color,
but what about the desert sand. I know what the books say about the date that is was first used, but I have two '49 LA's and one of them is Flambeau and Desert Sand and I'm pretty sure that the color is original. I'm far away from repainting either of them, but pretty sure that the one will get color just like she has, unless I find out otherwise. Can we also get that color from the Case dealers.

Case switched to Desert Sand with the 300/400 series and the original 600. The L, D, S, and V series were all Flambeau Red except for some industrial and military units. Case dealers should have paint although some may have it in Power Red which is very close. You can get the true Flambeau Red from paint dealers. Codes are supposed to be on the board here.

As far as I can tell Case didn't use desert sunset until about 1955 when the number series came out(350,400). All LA's should be flambeau red only. Both colors are available at a Case IH dealer.

Some of us got the Idea when they came Flambeau and I thought it was called Desert Sunset to paint our LA's that color. I painted three of them that way.
