HELP light switch

I'm working on a 1950 VAC and the light switch is bad. The owner says that the switch is also battery rate charge control. But the parts list I have doesn't say anything about the charging. The one that is in the tractor is a pull knob from the dash with a couple clicks, on the back side the knob controlls a arm that goes into a round housing about 11/2 inches around and about 1 inche thick with a fuse on the side. Can anyone help me with this question, my CASE/IH dealer was no help, they say that it's just a litght switch.Thank you SheldonMT

It's a 3 position switch. 1st position (lights off) reduces generator output to 3 amps, 2nd position (lights off) allows full generator charge, and 3rd position (lights on) also allows full generator output. The fuse is a 15 amp and may be the problem rather than the switch. Page 80 of my owners manual explains this, and how to adjust 3rd brush on a cut-out type generator.

See message by R.G. MAYNARD. If you want to restore orginal.
If you want tractor to use, I replaced generator with a GM alternator and replace light sw with a push/pull switch and added a breaker inline.
