I have a CASE "VC" sn#44151501, it has a series V combined pump, valves & work cylinder unit on it. Non of the dealers around here have ever seen it nor have any books on it. not even the original CASE dealer. I need info on it and on the PTO shift lever for the tractor also. It will not disengage. I opened it up and looks like it's been broken but I can't be for sure due to the fact that I can't find any repair pictures of it. So if any one can help it would be great help to me.

Hi Case Miner ,
I just got to looking through my book, it seems like it's really simple to get to the whole out fit. You just pull the cover, where the shifter lever is, and then you pull the bearing cover in the back. You can pull the whole thing out from the back, but they caution you not to drop the shifting sleeve into the drink. At that point, any problem should be really obvious. I can't help you with the hydraulics, though, I have an old model V. but it never had any hydraulics on it, at least as far as I can tell.
Best wishes, Tom

I have a VC with a mechanical lift that works off the PTO. It is not hydraulic and is operated by a foot pedal at the driver's right heel.
This unit uses a different PTO shaft and housing. The shaft is longer and has a spline for the lift gear to run. The shift linkage is just a slip coupling on the front splines amd the shift lever has a pin for a shifter fork to engage and disingage the coupling. The pin may be missing or not aligned in the coupling, not letting it disengage... Gene

Chuck mentioned that I know something about this, for sure he is exaggerating a bit (ha)! Is that pump/lift unit you refer to on the belt pulley assembly? If so, then it would be the same unit that was used on the VA's, at least the earlier ones. Later they went to an engine-mounted pump. Anyways, I have never seen that pump unit mounted on a V model but I know that the belt pulley unit is the same on both the V and the VA series so the one with the pump would fit on a V for sure.

OK, I see here in a reference book that there is a rear mounted pump assembly for the V series. It is called a "combined hydraulic pump, valves, and work cylinder unit". It is a piston-type pump and it receives it's drive from a cam which is keyed to the power rake-off shaft. There is a diagram with parts identified and some trouble shooting information. I can copy this for you and mail it to your home address. My email address is:

so email me your name and home mailing address and I will pop this in the mail this week. I will also include the section on the PTO setup etc.

Hi Case Miner, At least yours has a serial # plate. I have a 40 V & it was missing, but have bought a parts & service manual for it. Have not received it yet, but when I do will be happy to copy the pages you need & send them to you. Will need your address to do it. There is a man from Canada who is quit knowledgeable on the V's. Has helped me out on mine. Name is Mike believe he goes by Mike46 on YDT. Goodluck, Chuck
