My son has a 1936 RC case and we have had a lot of trouble trying to get enough power to move the sled. I put flat top pistons and a smaller CC head on it from a power unit. Still not enough power. The tractor was just to fast with the 36" tires. Today I found another gear. This is suppose to be a 3 speed so why do I have 4 gears??? And this is the weird part 1, 2, 3 are on the right and 4 th and reverse are on the left. We had been pulling in 2 nd the whole time. I checked every gear and they are different. It just don't make no sence because Case never made a 36 RC with a 4 speed that my books list..

I just took out 4 gear in a 36 RC. It wasn't marked for it either. I believe if the tractor came out on steel they locked out this gear. The guy that wanted the gear said it would be hard to find one that didn't have the 4th gear. The first one I tore down had it. Bout like most had a starter ringgear and no starter.

I have a 37 RC and my Grandpa has 2 RC's and they all have 4 gears forwards and I know many other people have RC's with 4 forward speeds. There are 3 field speeds and a road gear. I never saw anything about four gears either, I just assumed that people could take the fourth speed for a SC Case and put it in or Case sold conversion kits. For your power problem is your governor working right.

On an old Allis G we use at Clemson University for planting wheat plots, I discovered a super low gear that we had never found before. When I looked at the Allis dealers book, It showed this gear which the company had locked out on the tractors sold because the torque in this gear would break the rear axles. Maybe Case did the same thing.
