Hi, how do you install points in the autolite distributor? The points need to be installed in a 1942 VC w/ continental motor. I got the tune-up kit w/ the points, condensor, and rotor. Also, where can I buy the screw that you tighten on the bottom of the sediment bowl? I can only find complete bowls. I also need a distributor cap, who around here sells them? (I live in IL) Also, should I change the coil with this tune-up? I am not really sure as this is really my first tractor tune-up and I know that it really needs it! Thanks,-Brad

Hi again Brad, Installing the points on your autolite distributor at about .020 gap should get you started. Most likely that will be fine and no further adjustment should be needed. As to the screw on the sediment bowl, the cost of a new bowl assembly is minimal, probably why nobody offers parts for them. If you are strapped for cash though, e mail me your mailing address, I have several old bail assemblies and will send you one if need be. As for the distributor cap, you can probably get one at the store of this website, if not, email me and i will let you know of some other sources. As for the coil, normally you should not have to change the coil for a tune up. My experience with coils is that they eiether work or they dont, if you properly replace the normal tune up parts and your engine still does not run properly, maybe your coil is weak and should be replaced. Hope your tune up brings great results! If it does not, post again and Im sure someone will point you in the right direction..... Tom
