If you're talking about the power shuttle, I used to remove and replace by hand but that was back when I could lift two 100 pound suit case weights at the same time and place on a parts counter. I would advise using a floor jack to remove and then once its out, then check to see if you can lift it. Better to be safe than to eat a chunk of casting.

I would play it safe and use a floor jack. I would hate to tell you to do it one way and later find out that you got hurt. I forget sometimes that I was lucky in how I used to handle some of these components during removal and replacement.
