Help! I can"t get my 930 to charge properly. I have a new generator, new regulator, there is power to the battery terminal on the regulator, and I even changed my generator dash light bulb. Most of the time, the bulb is lit, but when I rev the engine some, the bulb dims, but never goes out. We did change from 2 6v batteries to 2 12v batteries, not that it should matter for charging. Anyone got any ideas what I need to check? Thanks for any help.

If the the light in the dash starts to dim with more throttle, It means your regulator is misadjusted. Adjust the set of contacts in the regulator til you have 14.5 volts the batteries. Make sure you have a 12 volt reulator also, my 930 with 2 12volt batteries wouldn't charge with a new regulator, all it needed to be was adjusted. hope this helps Paul

The tractor is and always was a 12v system, it originally had 2 6v batteries connected in series, it now has 2 12v batteries connected in parallel. Also, dwag, I did polarize the regulator when it was installed. I also polarized it again when I couldn't get it to charge, but thank you for suggesting that. I should have mentioned that I had done that on my first post.

With eng running and a test light connected to neg terminal on batt, probe reg and gen frames. If you get a light, there is a ground problem. Also, a good gen will motor when belt is off and "juice" to A terminal. Also grounding field will make a good gen chg usually, indicating a bad regulator, new or old.

I hope you hooked the new batteries up correctly, hopefully you dont have 24 volts in the system. My 930 isn't charging right now either but all that is wrong is the regulator because the light goes out when I push down on the relay closest to the fan, so all I need to do is find a new regulator.

With tractor not running, take a jumper lead/piece of wire connected to any "hot" terminal and momentarily touch/arc the "A" post on gen. This is called POLARIZING.

dont know too much about this but maybe your two 12 v batteries are telling the regulator they dont need charged if it is only 6 v
