With help from you all last summer and more work this summer, the '52 SC is RUNNING. I bought the family tractor from an Uncle who let it sieze. It hadn't run in about 20 years. After much debate about if it should come down or miraculously free up and start, I took it down. But not that far. A few parts from this forum, $700 in the head (valves, seats, guides, studs, surfaced), carb rebuild, rod bushings, rings and a good bead honing and it's running perfectly. Didn't even check the timing! Been in the family 50 years (since new), have the original manual with Gramps notes. Sure was a good feeling.
Thank you all for the help.

Way to go! I'm very happy for you.
The only tractor my dad ever bought new was a Long 350 in '73 and I don't really want that back:( Wouldn't mind having his '51 Farmall C but that is long gone and never will be found.
Now I'm hoping that my grandchildren will treasure my VAC and my M when I'm gone.
Plus, I ain't necessarily done "accumulating inventory" neither ";^) An SC or a DC is on my wish list.

Congratulations, Crispin! I know that feeling, and it's pretty great.

Do you have any photos of the project? I'd love to see the "before" and "afters", and would especially like to see any photos of the engine while it was apart. I never had to go that far with mine, so I've never opened her up...
