Hi again
would like some info on why my tractor can't stop on a dime?
I have adjusted the brakes and I have cleaned them and scuffed them up. everything seem to be there and working, but there is no brake on the belt pully?
I can come to a slow stop, but I don't really feel that safe
need help on this before I start pulling the boats out of the water at the cottage

Thanks!!
ps. for the people that remeber my last posting, I have not been stuck since I was made aware how to use the right and the left brake pedal

also I have just recieve the case tractor from the Franklin Mint and it looks really cool

Starting in '52 (serial no 5600001 and above), the S series used a different differential brake than the earlier models. It may be necessary to remove the brake housing, the brake adjusting nut, then remove the linings from the splined shaft. It is advisable at this point to disassemble the actuating discs and check the balls and their seats at this point. If they are cracked or scored, replace them too. Case has replacement linings, but they are pricey, $70 @ if I remember right. The S series service manual has good diagrams of this, and is cheap insurance to get it right. If the seal behind the disc needs replaced, the manual is essential...
