I have a mid 30s Case pull type combine. Its been in our family since it was bought new. Its a Rosario Special Model Q. It looks like the Case model P combine with a few differences. This one uses is a Case C or L power unit for the engine. It also has a rasp bar cylinder with 2 small diameter spiked drums ahead of it. Does anybody have or know anything about them? I have a Case combine brochure from the mid 30s on Case pull type combines. It lists the P, H, B, and BB but doesn't show the Q. I have not had much luck finding any info on this combine. Can anybody help? This combine is missing the grain tank and other parts and its been sitting in the same spot for 50 years. It would be a huge task to get it going again. The only good thing is the engine has been shedded its most of its life as it ran a back up generator. So its in good shape. I also own a 1938 Case L. If this combine is nothing special then I will probably scrap it. I also own a 1938 Case L and if this combine turns out to be something a little on the "hard to find" side then I might restore it and pull it with the L.

I have a sales brochure on it dated 1938.
I have many combine brochures, but only one of these, so I don"t know if it was a short lived machine or what. I think I have a parts book for it also. The brochure shows the combine being pulled by what I think is a model L tractor
on rubber. The engine used was a Case "CE" tractor engine. It could have either a bagging
platform or a 65 bu. tank emptied by gravity.
It could have a straw spreader or a straw dump.
It could also have a rotary weed screener.
Choice of 12, 16 or 20 ft headers.
No mention of rasp bars available as an option.
Only the spike tooth cylinder is talked about.
This machine also has crank driven straw walkers
and a special cluth to stop header with threasher
running.
It looks like the last of the big draper head pull type combines as the Model K brochure with
an auger header and rubber tires was printed the
same year. 1938 is also the first printing I have for an A-6 combine.
The model "C" combine was produced at the same time which was a smaller machine with the choice
of an 8, 10 or 12 ft head and 35 bu. tank, also
of the draper head design.

Why do you call it a Rosario Special ?
Does the machine have that term printed on it
somewhere or do you have a manual for it with that name on it ? Just wondering if the name
refers to the rasp bar setup you have on this machine ? Maybe someone out there is familier with the term "Rosario Special" that can answer
that for us ?

The spring 2003 Old Abes news featured an article about the Q combine I checked all my books I have nothing in the way of manuals, the owners were in England and wanted to communicate with other Q combine Owners, two Email addresses were given for anyone owning a Q combine, I would quess there are not many left and I agree anything CASE is a worthy attempt to restore or allow other partys the parts needed to complete a project, you can email me and I will forward the addresses

I don't know anything about your combine but I happen to think that any combine that old is something special - especially since it is a family heirloom. Keep it and the L together.

Just my thought. Jerry
