I am in the process of overhauling a VAC 124 engine and would like information on where the two brass thrust washers go on the front of the crank. The book says it takes two, one on the outside of the block but where does the second one go? Does it go on the crank inside the block before the crank is installed? If needed call

The VAC parts book has them in the following order, starting at the front main and going toward the crankshaft gear. Crankshaft thrust washer, two thrust shims 0.002 and 0.008 used to corecctly adjust crankshaft end play. Then another crankshaft thrust washer, held in place by two thrust washer pins, then a crankshaft thrust plate, then the crankshaft gear.

my i&t shop manual says that a thrust washer is used in lieu of the #1 main bearing shell flange, end play of .004-.006 controlled with shims, accessible by removing crankshaft gear.

sorry no pictures, and i don't remember the details from when i overhauled mine.
