Hi
I have instaled a gm 12V alternator on my 1949 cased dc tractor in place of the Generator. anyone know how to wire the stock amp gauge to the 12v alternator. The alt was for a 1977 gmc pick up. the back of the gauge has 2 post one has a +L A and one has +B I. any help would be great
thanks
Roch

I don't think 6v would crank my CC with a 6128A head and lots more ci's, my 830 diesel is restored to original except for the delco alt. I use it and the alt is cheaper to fix and more dependable

Don't let them give you too much crap! Some of us still use our DC's daily for chores, and our livelyhood depends on it starting in the winter. Since I have not been able to find volunteers to come crank start my DC in -30 degree weather the 12 volt system is REALLY BETTER!!! DK

Hey Roch: It's out of my hands. The "Committee" will handle this matter. Putting an alternator on a DC is like putting coveralls over a Tux.

use the stock wire plug, run the heavy wire to the post on the back of the alt then run a heavy wire from the post to your ammeter, connect the light wire to 12v that is switched or use a pressure switch to send the excitation current
