We have a late 1969 530 case, or so we thought. I found my side trim pannels and on the serial number tag it says 531. We have always had a difficult time getting the right parts for it, ussualy haveing to go with 570 parts. Anybody know the differnce between 530 and 531?

The "530" was mostly a sales nomenclature. The second digit is 3 is for diesel and 4 is spark ign. The third digit is for configuration, row crop, utility, I think high crop, was another. It has been covered in the past on this forum, can't give a quick key word to use in a search. If you can get a look at the parts book in the very begining it may have the breakdown. From what I have seen here and on tractors, it possibly was not strictly adhered to. Also, over the years, big parts get swapped around, like an later post here where a fellow wants to convert a diesel to a gas engine. OK, now the number is not correct. My 530 utility ag tractor is coded 541. Also, the construction units had different coding. HTH.

The 530 number covers the range of models and they are broken down from there, IE- utility, row crop, gas, diesel, LP, orchard. I don't have a list of the various breakdowns of the 530 series handy but parts are pretty much interchangeable except for the gas and diesel engines. The 570 was the last of the 500 series as they dropped them in favor of the David Brown models.
