I am putting a Case 300B 148 ci gas engine back together with used sleeves, used pistons, new rings and new gaskets. Just a poor boy job to get it run and see what the rest of the tractor is like and one day I'll do a real overhaul...

The problem is the book says the sleeves need to be above the block .002 My sleeves stick .010 the right side and are .002-.004 on the left side.

Have I just put the sleeves in wrong? I lined up the groove on the O rings like the book said and used Vaseline like the book said.

This block was cracked and repaired at one time. Other folks think the block was decked with the sleeves in there? and the deck is not straight?

You need to get a depth mike and check the counter bores.Take the old sleeves and mike the flange all the way around and see if they are even.Pull out new sleeve, take 'o' rings off old sleeve, drop in hole rotate. It wont take you long to pin point the problem.Earl in Illinois
