I have a 1950 to 54 case tractor, modle S
My question is does it have a POSI rear end?

I use this tractor at the cottage for moving the boats in and out of the water, it does have a loader with a bucket and I do move some gravel and snow around as well

but I do get stuck alot on roots or slippery rocks, and some times I get myself in a real mess trying to get unstuck!! and I have to call my wife and kids to help me

The brake peddle side of the tractor is the wheel that spins and the clutch side does nothing

is there any way to switch it to a posi rear end!!
Did they come with POSI and if not WHY

thanks
Cold Canadian

if it's the same tire spinning out all the time it may be that the other tire is loaded and the one thats spinning is not. check it out or is the tire thats spinning worn out? just a thought

Not sure if you have left/right brakes, but I suspect you do. If your right wheel is spinning, use the right brake to slow it a bit. This will transfer power to the left wheel. It's the reason most tractors have left/right braking. If they did have "posi" (Chevrolet term, Chrysler is "Sure grip") your steering would be quite ineffective.

you wouldn't want a posi rear end any ways you can't turn with posis. soo then it would be a pain in the butt to turn. if you wnat to know how hard it is to turn put something hevey on the back just to where the fronts just barley touching and thats pretty much how you turn with posis. soo i would just leave it and use the brakes if you have them

I believe the idea was that you can
hit the brakes individually, thus creating
your own posi traction. Maybe your
tractor doesnt have left and right
brake pedals?

My "yan deere" (1050JD built by yanmar) has a foot activated diff lock. Push down the pedal and its locked... in a bit when the loads off, the pedal jumps back up. I dunno what it'd be like to design somthing for your tractor though.
