Does anybody know if the 990 selectomatic hydraulic system is a closed center system or an open system? The reason I ask is I am considering building a wood splitter to run from the hydraulics and I don't know what type of valve to get. Any body have any suggestions about building this type of setup? Thanks.

If looped through the couplers of the remotes it returns through the three point hitch valve and then to the transmission lube lines. If the tractor does not have a remote valve it can be plumbed into the manifold on the top of the axle housing and then put the 3 point lever into the select position.
