On a VAC using shoe type (not disc) brakes, the brake activation lever that is located at the bottom of the brake housing is offset from the center line. Should this lever be in front of or behind the center line? I removed both housings (left and right) to replace the rods from the pedals to the arms and to reline the shoes but don't remember which one is which. Each rod could be adjusted to fit either way. Thanks in advance for your help.

I am looking at a picture in a manual which shows it more towards the front of the tractor. It states "Continued adjustment of the brake rods eventuallly results in a bad lever angles and a "hard" pedal. Thus, whenever the outer lever becomes perpendicular with the brake rod or yoke, it is time to perform a major adjustment."

If you need more info from the manual let me know.
Hope this helps.
