How do you check the oil level in the rear end and transmission on a 44 VAC. I can't find any plugs on the side except one up near the steering box. Thanks for any info.

Hi Dale, the VAC has a dipstick that is attached to a square headed plug on the same plate on top of the transmission that the shifter is in. If you unscrew the plug next to the shifter you should have a dipstick on it with a mark indicating the correct oil level for the trans and differential. A VAC transmission and differential will take 7 gallons of 90 wt oil when compleatly drained. Good luck..... .Tom

There should be a big square head plug on the top of the transmission just ahead of the shift lever. if you remove it you will notice a rod welded to it with a graduation mark. It should take approx. 8 quarts.

All for fun. Unlike the flames about generators.
