We picked up a 1945, someone put alot of work & money in the motor,(everything new, runs'sweet). We pressure tested the cooling system & as it appear's to have froze up some time (rad.cracked too)sound's like the "problem lies behind the water pump area or #1 sleeve,we have tried to remove the water pump in 1 piece w/o any luck, going to "connect the dot's" by drilling the outtercircumference.
If I can "see" the problem I'll need to find a pump or housing.Has anyone ever had this problem removing the waterpump or had a simular problem/remedy, any info.guy's would rekindle our enthusiasum,Thank's all Ben

I may have experienced the same problem you are now dealing with.
To make a long story short, my 49 LA froze on me. I originaly thought it just busted the radiator housing and took it to a shop for repair. After installing it and when filling the radiator all water was rushing into the block.
This is what the damage was and may help you to isolate your problem.
Radiator tank busted Head busted internally
enging block cracked.
Since I had the radiator tank fixed I bought a head and block from a man in Kansas. If this is your problem and need the name let me know.
I am in the process now on switching the head and block.

I do not tell you this to discourage you but to possibly help you isolate your issue. Your issue may not be as severe as mine.
Let me know if I can be of more help and good luck.
Ron
