Just got back from vacation in north central Ohio, and was looking at a 1954 Case 500 Diesel, serial 8035952 that my brother in law has. He quit farming, and may part with it and just keep his Ford, but I have no idea what a fair offer would be. (I collect Red and Green tractors). It's in excellent original condition, very good tires, absolutely straight tin, no known mechanical problems. Basically all it needs is new paint. Any inputs on what a ballpark offer should be? Also, what's the HP rating and weight of this tractor? Thanks!

Burl, The Nebraska test 508 conducted in 1953 shows maximum hp at the belt of 63.81. Before weighting it for the tests it weighed 8,128 lbs.
my brother has one. At rated power it turned out 55.14 hp with an economy of 16.03 hp hours per gallon. It's a fuel sipppin hoss.

The info. came out of c. H. Wendel's book "Nebraska Tractor tests Since 1920" He gives a little synopsis of each test up to 1984. I just happened to have it checked out of the library this week.

Thanks a lot guys. Ordered a reference book today on Case tractors to get a little more educated. About the only thing that bothers me about the 500 is the weight. I'd have to get beefier transportation to haul it to the pulls, and that may not go over good with the other half. Well, I have time to mull it over. Thanks again.

it would be worth around 2000 or more maybe if nothings wrong with it and it would be a great little tractor you would really like it if ya got it. we have a 400 and it has paid for its self and we had it about 5-6 years
