Hey, I've got my ball type VAC govoner tore apart and have a question. The cone shaped outer plate has indentions in it from the balls and there is a thin amount of metal that is rolled in towards the center of the cone in these areas. My guess is it's not supposed to be like this. Should I take a file and flapper wheel on my die grinder and smooth these out again? The govoner wasn't very responsive before. There is also some sludge in the gear that I'm sure didn't help either. Any other suggestion or comments to correct this? I'm putting this govoner on a 201 combine engine that will be installed in the VAC. Thanks, Dave S

All the ones I've replaced for the same reason had dents in them from the balls. I would remove them because the balls are supposed to roll freely in it.
