I have a '48 VA. First I had water in my oil. I fixed that with some bars leak. Now I have oil in my water. It wasn't there when I used the bars leak. Is this a common occurance with these antique tractors. Also, the engine only has about 200 hours since rebuild, if that.

I would first look at the head gasket, but there is no way this should or would be normal. Good luck.

Hi Bob,sorry to hear about the trouble. When you use a product like "bars leaks" you have to know that by using that product, you are not necessarily fixing the problem, you are (usually) temporarally covering up the problem untill the problem is corrected. I have heard some good stories about how bars leaks, or kw block seal has given "years" of life to an otherwise doomed engine, but for such a product to be a "fix all" is in reality, just to much to ask. It may be that when your engine was assembled, the head gasket or one of the sleeve o rings did not seal properly, and has progressively become worse, possibly the bars leaks postponed the problem for a time. Or maybe there was a crack in the block or head that was overlooked during the rebuild? Sounds like you are going to have to take some steps backward to find the source of your trouble, good luck to you. Tom
