I was using the brush hog in a grass field last night when the PTO just stopped working. No funny noises or anthing like that. It has the independent PTO with the long horizontal lever you lift next to your right foot. I was doing some research on the site and came across an old archive that said if the PTO is slipping there is a plug on the side of the housing to get to the milk bottle pins that adjust the wet clutch and drives the PTO. Could this be the Problem?
It"s not slipping it just seems like it"s not engaging. Thanks DAn

if the 530 COM is like the 400B-600B-630COM I have there is a shift lever on left where the top link hooks to tractor have engine OFF and use a pry-bar to pull out shaft you may have to turn shaft a little to line up gears I have had the top link get over and push this lever in and turn mine off made a spacer to keep link in middle of mount

Should have a snap feeling when it is put in gear.If that is no longer there there is good chance cotter pins came out of small pins iinside. Should always use hardened cotter pins. You can try tightening using pins you mentioned but if it hapened arubtly probably cottter pin broken .

Thanks, I'm going to have the neighbor tear it apart and fix it. I tried to pull the milk bottle pins but couldn't get it to budge. I think i'll let the professionals fix this problem.
I'll post back when we figure out what happened.
