Let's assume the radiator hasn't been topped off with an oily container. {Yeah, that happens}

I'll almost guarantee you are also getting coolant in the crankcase. Loosen the drain plug and see if a few drops of coolant come out of the pan. If so, you need to beg, borrow, or buy a tester to pressurize the cooling system. Remove the oil pan and add 10 psi. or so to the radiator. Follow the water trail up to the source. You might find a leaking head gasket.

Don't start by throwing parts at it. Don't start with a complete teardown. What will you do after you have stripped it down to a bare block and still can't find the source of the leak ?

Try to narrow it down as much as you can first.

Hello Martin,
Most likely you have a pin hole in the linner and the piston skirt pushes the oil into the rad.
This is very common on JD engines, they call it cavitation erosion.I haven't seen to many 188 with pin holes usally it goes the other way coolant in the oil. I haven't worked on a 530 so I thought i should ask. is there a oil cooler in the rad?
I can supply you with a Out of frame rebuild kit for $682.00 + frt. if you want to rebuild it.
Good Luck Ed
