I bought a Case 300 tractor a year ago and the serial number plate had EXP-8-54 and the model number was blank. It is a 311 and was purchased new by a person who worked at the Rockford Case Factory. They claim it was bought in 1954. I know that the 300 didn't come out until 1956, so if anyone has any information relating to the serial number it would be much appreciated.

There are several tractors around that look like a VAC-14's, but have exp castings from the clutch housing back that later became 311 castings.

Some photos of this tractor would be interesting to see. I'll bet there are some differences from the production models. The 300's were built in 1956 and 1957. The first ones may have been built in late 1955? Email Roger Hornbaker ([email protected]), he is pretty much the expert.

Unless I'm mistaken, the 300 went into production in 1955,making it very possible you have an experimental tractor. Nice find, wanna sell it?

Sounds to me like you have an experimental model by the number you list ....it may be possible that it was used for research and development..

Are there any small details you've noticed between your unit and another regular serial numbered unit?

Sounds like you have something special!
