I just bought a Case tractor without the ID plate on the dash. I think it"s a late 40"s. It is an orchard model, has square front and rear axles,a wide front. A 4 speed trans with the stick shift bent. Electric start, 6.0-16 front and 11.2-28 rear tires. No pto and no hydraulics. Apparently no muffler and no oil filter that I can find. What model is it?

An oblong flange is attached to the exhaust manifold and is directed down but is only about 6-8 inches long.

That is a factory elbow used where a muffler is not practical, I.E. vertical exhaust overhead clearance (limbs) or underslung exhaust (grass fire). P/n is VT220.

Does the exhaust run down from the manifold?

Look in the tractor photos on this web site to see if you can find one like it. I think the VAO should have 15 inch front tires and I wouldn't describe the front as square???

I understood him to say square front axle,C Amick. The VAO would have had a square solid front axle,no? The front rims could have been replaced with 16" also.
