I'm jumping at the bit to purchase and restore a 430/530 maybe a 630 diesel, I NEED LOTS OF UNDERSTANDING AND HELP from this site! About what is the "road speed" of the 12 speed tranny? Would a Case-O-Matic have slower ground speed? Oh, what about the 8 speed? This will be my first Case for me to restore and THANK YOU ALL for your help!

Thank YOU one and ALL for the great answers to my questions. Thank you John for the info on the 630D with triplerange. I think that I will look for a triplerange and go from there. The reason for my question about speed, I could be driveing it 5 or 6 miles one way and would like to find something that moves down the road.
To you Triplerange, I am looking for something, drop me an e-mail on your 630D, but I frighten very easy!
Again Thank YOU for all your support!

Oh, got anything else that I need to know about one of these fine Case units??? fyi, i'm an old farmall man, willing to change!

I"ve got a 630 diesel case-o-matic. I"d be interested in selling...reluctantly cause it"s a good tractor. I just need more horsepower. I can"t justify having to maintain another tractor. All gauges work except for converter temp and pressure. Tractor runs fairly good, all hydraulics work, has power steering, eagle hitch. Technically It has about 16 speeds but I think of it as an 8 speed as I use direct drive as much as possible. Seems to be slower geared than the triplerange trans.
I"d agree with Hoss....haven"t had a problem with the case-o-matic.

Ive got a 830 caseomatic diesel and pullwith it.I was skeptical as you are at first. This machine was all apart when I bought it.I finally got it finished this winter.Iwouldnt part with it now for anything,I love it,tough and goes nice.I guess as long as you dont let the torque converter fluid get to hot they last forever.Make sure your guages work right, converter fluid temp, converter pressure etc and she will be o.k.A owners manuel is recomended. You might want to ask around about that Case-0-matic. I know it has a turk-converter in the tranny and some say if they go bad. It is hard to get one. As I said. Might ask someone more on this then me. I have the 12 speed are 4 speed with L-D-H.
Mine is a 58 flat nose 311-B case gas.

I think there is little difference between a case o matic and standard transmission on speeds. The twelve speed has a 22.4 MPH and eight speed has a 18.8 MPH for a 530. A 530 will go faster than a 430 because of the higher engine RPM. A 630 has a speed of only 20.2 MPH in high gear.
