Just bought a 930 diesel chain drive, it starts and runs good, idles smooth, but it misses at half throttle or higher if not fully warmed up, or under load. My 900 doesn't do that. What's the cause? Thanks

Take the exhaust manifold off. Put your ear plugs in and start the tractor. See which cylinders the smoke out of when it misses. Take that injector out and swap it from one that does not smoke. If the cylinder still misses it is engine related. If it missed now on the other cylinder have your injectors check. It could be a lot of things from pump timing to sticking exhaust valve or many things in between. More questions?

My first thought would be injectors or power cells. How long had it been sitting before you purchased it?

Thanks for the replies. I probably didn't word my question quite right. The tractor runs great when warm and when under load, but runs rough when above idle and not warmed up yet. I would expect that from a gas motor, but not from a diesel. Thanks again

My 930 sounds like its backfiring right after starting it when cold. Ive never revved it up when its cold to see what it sounds like, it gets idled at 5-600 rpm until warmed up which doesnt take long since its a fresh engine, so it quits popping & banging shortly after its started. I dont think you have a thing to worry about with yours

If your tractor is like my 900 was you better check and see what head gasket is leaking. That noise is probably water in the cylinder. After it runs a bit and is warmed up it burns it up. If it is like the 900 it will most likely br the center head and is normally caused by running the tractor too hot a few times. If you wait too long to fix it like I did you end up with a scored sleeve and an oil burning engine.
