I'm working on an 800 COM with the American Bosch fuel pump, have all the filters bled out, and have no pressure at the injector lines. This was a running tractor parked inside for 3 years. I took the injector lines off the pump and it would squirt a very small amount of fuel 1-2 in above the pump head - but nowhere near the amount or pressure of my 730 with German Bosch. I took what looked like a pressure valve off the pump (brass plug in middle of distribution area) cleaned it but that made it worse (only air bubbles) did I just ruin this or am I missing something? The return line does have fuel running out of it but builds virtually no pressure but you can feel it pulse with pump plunger (thumb over the end)- Sorry to be so long this is my brothers tractor and he's really discouraged about it - Thanks

Timis,I agree with Jim From Calif But ive found that you need almost a full tank of fuel to bleed the filters and lines.

I have 3 Cases w/American Bosch Injector pumps. This is the process I use:
1. Make sure the tank is at least half full of fuel
2. Bleed the first filter - -then replace the bleed plug
3. Open Transfer Pump by-pass valve
4. Bleed 2nd filter by removing top plug
5. Replace 2nd filter top plug
6. Remove input fuel line to Bosch Pump
7. Fuel will run out when 3rd filter is bled.
8. Close Transfer pump by-bass valve.
9. Open Decompression lever
10. Crack engine you should have a good fuel stream from 3rd filter
11. Replace input fuel line to injection pump.
12. Close Decompression lever.
13. Set her to half throttle and watch her RUN.

Not sure what type american bosch you have? rotary or inline?Thinking inline but cant picture brass plug unless you removed plug on top of transfer pump on side of pump.Origionally when you tried to start did you have white smoke come out of exhaust? If so maybe all you needed was sniff of ether as Larry an most of us need to do especally this cooooold winter.

my pump is the rotary - the brass plug sits in the center of the circle of injector lines - it sits about 1 in higher than the threads to attatch the injector lines - when opened the plug has a spring that holds down on a valve - the spring is held in place as the plug has a built in nub the spring slips over

Tim,
I had the same problem with my 801B. In the return line there is a cylindrical valve. Take that off and disassemble it and make sure that the spring and plunger inside are not sticking. As for the valve that you took off I can't help you there because I didn't take that part of mine apart. I did also blow out all of the lines and made sure that all of the connections are sealed and not leaking any fuel. After I did all of that I also sent the injectors out for testing and ended up getting rebuilds done. Mine still wouldn't fire up but it sure tried to. Thanks to a suggestion from one of the guys on this site I pulled the 801 with our 511 and it finally fired and ran on it's own. Now we did have to pull it for quite some time. I also have noticed that mine is one cold hearted beast to start first thing. I have to use a little, and I mean little, shot of starting fluid for the first start up each morning. Good luck and please keep me posted.

Put it in a mid range gear and after we started rolling in gear, I started cranking the engine with the key... I'm not sure if that is the best way but that's what worked for me...

That will work ,, use the decompressor to prime up the pump, . LEARNED THIS BY NECESSITY ,Have done that before when MORNING temp was a little too cold, battery weakening because of headlite work the nite before, Before cell phones ,With the wife dropping Me and heading off to town .And I am 2 miles from home STRANDED . with no ether ,,, Since I was on a decent hill I pulled the hitch pin from the disc, Yanked the decompressor, with direct drive engaged , Spun the motor while rolling in 5th gear, dropped the decompressor arm ,and VIOLA !! hOOKED HER BACK TO THE DISC AND BEGAN WHISTLING WHILE i WORK , jIM
