Well I plan to tackle the wonderfully famed and dreaded job of fixing the hyd brakes on my LA this week. I finally found a local autoparts store that was willing to do more then just punch the wheel cyl part #s in the computer and say they are no longer available. The old guy I talked to told me all the real old wagner numbers are not in the computers. He went to the books and found the wheel cyls. You can not get them through wagner anymore but you can get them through rabestos. Not cheap though at $120 a pop! I should have them wensday. To Alan Golden I tried the rockauto place in WI they said they could get master cyls but the wheel cyls are back ordered and they did not know when they would get more. I don't feel I have the time to wait on them. I have read all the hyd brake threads in the arcives and have made a puller out of a piece of my old drawbar that was junk. Tried loosing the nuts and driving the tractor a bit to see if they would pop loose but that did not work. The master cyls I have kits for and I am goin to try that route first. (dont want to chance the kits not workin on the wheel cyls cause they are such a pain to get at.) I never saw a thread about any tips on setting the brakes or anything once the drums are removed. Just curious if anybody here has been through the whole process and had any tips or insight. I read through the steps in my service manual and it sounds like a bit of a process.

Stephen the brake pads are most likely in good shape they are very thick made to last forever. I got two long 3/4 in bolts and a piece of 3/4 X 2 by about 12 in. long steel and made a puller for mine they are hard to get off lots of heat and a big sledge hammer.
They weight about 400 Lbs so have a good hoist or bucket loader attached to them before you knock the loose. Keep the nut on so it won't fly off and kill you. Have help just in case something goes wrong.
Need any help give me a call 503 623 0460 I have spare hubs and brake pads on my parts tractor.
Walt

The hubs can be tough to get off. You are on the right track driving it. Try some tight figure 8s to put side load on them. I have tried pullers on them with with varying success. Helps to put a hydraulic jack from the sub frame to the back of the hub if you are trying a puller.

Let me know how this goes for you since the brakes on mine are the next thing for me to tackle. What part numbers were you given for Raybestos? I will probably have to go that route as well.
