Hay Alan I can also see in your pic the belt pully brake. Did you have mutch trouble gettin that off? I tried to take mine off 4 years ago whe I started my resto but I could not get the pin out. I think I am goin to try again though cause after running my tractor a bit I think I need new seals for that clutch shaft. Maybe I'll have to try some heat this time. As for the boat anchor idea. Not bad Not bad cept I'd want a big fat heavy old anchor and I have yet to find a ship on the farm so not sure were I'd find one haha LOL!

The pulley brake took a tad bit more work and a few more tools. Wrenches for set screws, torch, drill, punch, sledge hammer, a few band-aids, and some Adult Liquid Solvent.

Actually, the head of the pin had been mushroomed out, so I had to drill out the pin, put some heat to it, then take a punch and drive the slivers out. There was just BARELY enough clearance to get the brake arm out, once I took a gear puller and tugged the pulley out until it was hitting the tire.

yep sounds bout like what I thought I might have to do. Then I guess I have to make a new pin because I bet mine is in there every bit as hard as your's was. Oh well the joys of workin on the old stuff right? On Saterday I had to get our John Deere 4630 hooked up to our 16' foot tandum disk because we worked ground and planted peas today. After getting the disk ready I had the crazy Idea to see if the LA would pull it. What do ya know it did! but it was quite a load for it. I was goin slighty down hill and of corse I dont have no hydrolics so I had no way to raise it. I made a big wide turn at the bottom of the hill and then tried to come back up it was at this point that I spun out. Had to drop the disk and go retreve it with the Deere. We have very sandy soil here in Eastern WA so traction is our biggest problum. A 16' disk is a huge disk for a LA size tractor here. Sure was fun to here that big engine with no muffler or pipe Lug down and pull! Now I need to find me like a 12' disk then I could really have some fun. Thats the first time that this tractor has worked in somewere around 30 years and i think it kinda enjoyed it self, I know I did!

I've got a 4 bottom Case Centennial plow spotted and spoke for. Just have to go pick it up. However, I've got to get tires before I can try to do any work with mine. I think there are only about half a dozen lugs left on the rubber, and the rest is just cord. I'm waiting to see if I can win the lottery before I can afford to buy some new tires.
What is your email and I'll send you some pics.

Tie an anchor on the drawbar and kick it off the back of the tractor if you find you are about to run into something. LOL j/k

Alan I cant see all of the band in the pic but it looks like your lineing is just worn out. I just had the band for my LA relined at the local auto machine shop. With tax the bill came to $43.00 hope this helps
