I FINALLY got the leaks stopped! Woohoo! Tore the leaking brake trunnion down AGAIN last weekend to RE-re-replace the seal, smoked a couple cigars while looking at it and thinking. I bought the CR seals, this time, but what I saw was that I had inadvertently driven the new seal into the brake housing TOO FAR. I drove it in until it seated, which kept the seal from touching the contact surface on the shaft when I put it all back together.(No Manuals!) So this time I drove the seal only a sixteenth or so down from FLUSH, and it hasn't leaked a DROP. Ran the bushhog down in the bottom for three hours or so til I ran out of Grade 8 shear bolts, NO LEAKS. Now I just need new hoses on the remotes. Boy, do I feel like a fool. Price for gaining Practical Experience, approx. 175 bucks. Relief at Job FINALLY Well Done, Priceless. I figured this tall behemoth would be tippy on sidehills, but it seems to be as stable as any other tractor on steep ground. It has liquid in the rear tires, however, and they are spread as wide as they will go. Next item of business, re-build steering box and replace U-joints and bushings.Found a paint that looks close at the auto parts store, called Santa Fe tan. Had no luck at the dealer. Figured I'd pass this on to save the NEXT 930 greenhorn some time and cash. KY Jim

I PREFER to get my stuff from the dealer, but stuff he don't have I have to scrounge. Or, in the case of hydraulic fluid, when the nearest dealer(Wilson Eqpt.) charges 75 bucks for a bucket of HyTrans, and the Reasonable dealer(50 miles away) charges only 45, I'll drive fifty miles. However, the Truck parts place sells Warren fluid which is comparable to HyTrans( it SAYS,) I'll drive only 8 miles and pay only 35 per bucket. It's Economics. I get my stuff at the Reasonable Dealer or the truck parts place. Won't waste time or gas on Wilson EVER again. I'll never own a piece of equipment they service, either. It would be Good if they did go under, maybe some HONEST people would get the Case franchise, then. KY Jim

I did same thing on our vac axle.Havent fixed it yet. Sounds like you are having trouble steering so i would first take u joints apart at side of engine a repack with greese. There is one under radiator that is a needle bearing u joint that is probably dry an binding. You need to remove radiator to get at it. Not hard when you make u mind to do it.yOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE U JOINT CROSS IN THAT ONE.Didnt know Elm was a dealer but bet he would be glad to ups it to you. I would sure fix those before getting into steering gear box.Note if you jack up front end an steering tends to lock while turning u joints are culprit. There is 1 in steering columan i did not remove that on asssuming it being protected from elements it will be ok.

Congrats on the sucess on the brakes, What kind of a dealer do you deal with? We stock and sell Desert Sunset paint by the quart, gallon and spray cans for touch up. This is Case brand and readily available. It seems I see the common complaints and they all seem to center around the dealers lack of knowledge on the older stuff or lack of commitment to the customer, but mainly price. Not all dealers are like that, WE care about the restorer as well as the working customer. Prices we have no control over and you can always get something cheaper, but if everyone refuses to support the local dealer soon he will be gone and everyone will be saying "I wonder why he is going out of business" Look in the mirror for the answer!!!
