My LA does not have hydrolics on it, but I know of an LA in a salvage yard that has a factory hydrolic pump on it. I was thinking of maybe trying to get it to put on my tractor. I don"t know if it is duel or single hydrolic pump. I was wondering if these pumps are rebuildable and if any parts are available for them? Also I know that they are low pressure hydrolic systems so would the be able to lift modern implements like a 16" CaseIH 3800 light finish disk, 12" box scraper, etc? Also not being able to run the hydrolic pump to determine its condition what is a good price to offer for it? Thanks a bunch.

I did the same swap a couple of years ago on my 48 LA. I was able to get an entire working dual unit in nice shape, pulled off for me and shipped for around $400. Get a Case cylinder to match.

I have a Chelsea PTO Hydraulic pump that came with my LA it has plenty of power to lift a good size 4 bottom plow.

Make a real good offer and pay the shipping and its yours. Its heavy but in good working condition when removed. Walt

The only reason those pumps wore out was if someone failed to check fluid level frequently. The resevoirs were only a couple of gallons and if you had a leaky cylinder or hose it didn't take too many days or weeks to get to the point that the pump sucked air. Other than that, or dirty oil, they would run a long, long time. Bearings are still available, but pricey. It will have lots of lift for what you want to do provided the pump is not scored.

From my experience the hydraulic pumps from the tractors that do not have live power generally have pretty good pumps in them. The only time they run is when the PTO is in gear, and the clutch is engaged. They have just a small fraction of the hours on them as the newer tractors that the pump runs all the time. Good luck with it. DK

I would not worry about needing to rebuild that pump; they are virtually indestructible. However, that said, I doubt that very many parts would still be available should there be a problem; remember that tractor is close to 60 years old and CASE only guaranteed parts availability for 20 years.
It should lift both of those without any trouble. As to value of the pump in the salvage yard, I can't help you there. I'd love to find one if I ever get our family LA back from the current owner.
