Ok I need some advice here. I have been workin most every nite latly on my LA so that I can take it on its first test run. My tractor is a 48 model. I have a parts tractor that is a 47 model. The front end on my 48 was worn out so I swapped the front axle, front casting, wishbone, hubs and spindles from my 47 on to my 48. Then later I realized that the 48 hubs are a little bit diffrent style and the spindles are at the bottom of the yokes wereas the 47 has them at the top which would make the front of the tractor sit a few inchs lower. I was going to swap the spindles so I took them apart on both tractors once apart I realized that the older model spindles are also smaller in diamator. Also upon disasembly It is evedent that the right spindle on the 48 has had bearings go out at some point and is kinda chewed up but I think it could be made to work with a little bit of time spent with a file. So my question is should I use the newer model spindles and be correct by year and serial #, or use the older ones which would drop the nose a bit maybe making it pull better? I"m swapping out the hubs regardless so that they look correct. Would it really make it pull any better with the nose 2 1/2 to 3 in lower Also were do I get the special funky looking seals? thanks a bunch

Thanks for the advice I called case today and they have the seals but only if you want them really bad. They want $129 bucks a pop! Wow for that I think that I can figure out a way to use a large rubber o ring or rubber seal off of an oil filter or something. Out of my four hubs I do have one seal that is still usable. This leads me to another question I forgot to ask last night. Which way do you install the seals? A couple of the hubs that I took apart had the metal part towards the bearing but the other ones had it towards the spindle.

I swapped the spindles on my 48 to my 45 it sets up a little bit higher but you can't really tell the differance without having another one right beside.

It really shouldn't make any difference in operation other a pinch more ground clearance.

Ground clearance means a lot to me.

The last I knew the seals could be bought at your local Case dealer. mEl
