Hey guys

I noticed the other day that the oil in the gearbox of my triple range was a little low and I'd like ot top it up, my question is what kind of oil does that take? Does it take gear oil or does the pump for the Eagle Hitch use that as a reservoir and should I be using a brand of Hydraulic/transmission oil? thanks to all in advance and I look forward ot your replies.

Allan: The owner's manual calls for 10W-30 motor oil in the hyd. reservoir and as an alternate oil you can use Automatic Transmission Fluid, Type A. C. Amick was right about a possible low oil level in the hyd. reservoir. If your hyd. level goes down too much .....check your transmission and rear end oil.....the dipstick is located at the frt. left corner of your seat. When the rock shaft housing piston assembly seals get worn...they leak hyd. oil into the trans. and rear end oil...raising the level and diluting the oil too. The 211B holds 5 Gal. of SAE 90 oil in the trans. and rear end. The torque tube capacity is 12 Qts. with tripl-range. If you use this tractor with a remote hyd. cyl. and share this cyl. with other tractors you will want to use the same hyd. oil in all of them as it get mixed anyhow. Back in the days on our farm we used to use the Case TCH fluid in all of our tractors as it woked in the Case-o-matic trannies and all of the hydraulics as well. Just in case you do'nt know it... there is a hyd. filter located under the battery area on the tractor's left side....there are four bolts to take out....there is an edge-wound filter inside the housing that you can take out and wash in tractor fuel and blow dry. Do'nt use too much air pressure as you can blow the filter apart. This was the tractor i learned to drive on; we used it to rake hay, pull the hay crimper, cultivate corn, plant corn, pull in loads of hay, silage, grain; haul manure; etc. Pa bought it new in 1958 (the first year of prod.) and i still have it....it brings back alot of fond memories. Good luck with yours and enjoy it.

It is the reservoir for the hydraulic pump. I think the owners manual calls for 30W motor oil. It can leak into the rear end if the Eagle Hitch lift seals are bad.
