Had planned to attend the Flywheelers show in Florida. I am having trouble with the trailer towing lights on my truck and have been unable to solve the problems with it. Worked 4 hours yesterday in 8 degree temperatures and thought I had it solved and loaded the truck camper on it. Now the tail lights are on all the time, guess I hooked up a wrong wire somewhere.
Too many little things going wrong trying to get ready, so finally decided someone was telling me I did not need to make this trip, so staying in ohio with 3 inches of snow and 10 degree temps. Probably work out for the best... Gene

Gene Dotson said: (quoted from post at 05:04:50 02/21/08) The trouble was not with the lights on the camper or the trailer. It is the wiring connecting with the truck wiring. Corrosion has taken its toll on the wiring on the truck and the hot wire feeding the tow circuit corroded and broke. When the weather gets better I will get rid of the rat's nest of wiring and wire it right... Gene

Yeah, I've got some rat killin' to do on some of my trailers too - WHEN it quits snowing :roll: By the way, those remote controlled tail lights I mentioned? Well they are in Northern's catalog but they are a lot more spendy than I remembered .... $149 ! Larry59s deal would suit me a whole lot better! :)

Hey Gene- I saw some Remote Control LED tailights with stop and turn somewhere ... maybe Northern Hyd.? Seems like they had batteries in them and the remote control was in the cab? I'm like you ... my trailers always work when I'm just hauling hay or some such but as soon as I plan something with a time limit they go on the fritz. But, like was said maybe 'Somebody' is trying to tell you something about going on this one. I would sure like to go to that show myself. :)

Gene,
Sorry to hear of your trailer troubles. Lights seem to be a constant problem on those tractor hauling trailers for some odd reason. Maybe there was a reason you weren't supposed to go. I was planning on going, but work is too busy and I need to save my pennies for fertilizer, seed, and fuel (and more Case tractors, of course). Don

Don;
I felt the same. There were other nuisance issues that came up with preparations like my washing machine tore up its transmission. The money I saved for the trip will now have to be used for other expenses, like fuel oil for the house and seed... Gene

Do what I did. I went to the auto store and bought me the magnet rear lights. Works great and can be used on anything else you have. Comes with wiring and all you need. Simple and easy. Then you can get on the road. Think cost is about 50.00 or less.
