I have a 1965 530 dsl dual range with a hand clutch. What i what to know is when you stop the tractor with the hand clutch why can't I shift the transmision from forward to reverse? Is mine out of adjustment or when blowing snow do I have wait for the blower to clear and use the foot clutch to change gears.

I have a Case 430 Diesel and the Hand Clutch works just like Phil described and has not caused me any problems

The hand operated clutch is internal to the torque tube and is not dry, it runs in the hydraulic reservoir. Your title left some question. The reservoir should be filled to level, Although TCH would have been the original oil used, Hytran Ultra is the replacement I would use.

Phil did a good job of explaining how it works. It was a reliable, trouble free operation and parts are readily available.

If you have what i think you have the hand clutch would disengage the transmission but allow the pto to continue to run. The foot clutch would disengage the transmission and the pto. The hand clutch was not to be used instead of the foot clutch for normal use, only to keep the pto running when you had to stop the forward motion of the tractor. Sort of like the two stage clutches on other tractor makes, gives you a sort of live independent pto. That is how it is on my 630.
